Benefits of L-Theanine

What is L-Theanine?

L-Theanine is an amino acid, they are the basic components of proteins and the human body is not capable of producing them, so it is necessary to consume them. This amino acid can be found in green tea, black tea, and some mushrooms. L-Theanine was first discovered in 1949 by Sakato in Japan.

What is L-Theanine used for?

L-Theanine can modulate brain waves related to relaxation, which is why it is used to relieve anxiety and stimulate learning, mood and concentration. L-Theanine is one of the few nootropics known to impact these brain waves.

It also achieves this relaxing effect by increasing the levels of some neurotransmitters such as GABA, serotonin, and dopamine.

Scientific studies show that:

Why should we take L-Theanine?

Once we reach adulthood, the functioning levels of neurotransmitters in our brain decrease, which increases stress and reduces short-term memory and mood. It also negatively affects the quality of sleep. These changes happen over time and are related to neurodegenerative diseases.

What foods contain L-Theanine?

One of the main sources of L-Theanine is tea, especially green tea. However, it is also found in black tea and in some mushrooms.

How and when is L-Theanine taken?

L-Theanine is not a medication, so there are no official guidelines regarding how much a person should take. A dose of between 50 and 200 mg daily is usually given. It is not recommended to take more than 1,200 mg of L-Theanine daily.

With one dose of POWER you can achieve all the benefits mentioned above.

How does L-Theanine work in the brain?

L-Theanine induces alpha brain waves.

In 1999 a study published in "Food Science and Technology" reported on the relaxing and calming effects of L-Theanine in humans. It is observed that the brain waves change, entering a type of wave called alpha. Alpha waves, or alpha states, are related to clearly calm situations and are the waves that appear during the meditative or creative state, also known as "waking relaxation."

It was observed in this study that the brain entered this frequency 40 minutes after ingesting L-Theanine.

What are the benefits of L-Theanine?

It has been observed that when taking L-Theanine supplements, people feel a calming effect after about 30 minutes, without drowsiness.

It is also reported to feel an increase in cognition and energy without draining or causing jitters as with other stimulants.

It is also mentioned that L-Theanine helps stop anxiety and panic attacks as it produces positive effects on mental and physical symptoms of stress such as a decrease in heart rate and blood pressure.

What are the side effects of L-Theanine?

No side effects have been reported as a consequence of taking L-Theanine. However, drinking large amounts of green tea in general can cause stomach upset, irritability, and nausea due to the caffeine content of the tea.

Also, you should not take L-Theanine if you are undergoing chemotherapy or if you take drugs to lower blood lipid levels or sedatives.
